ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand the knowledge of reproductive health among female college students and the effectiveness of intervention measures, so as to provide a reference for conducting reproductive health education and health guidance for female college students.@*Methods@#From March to November 2022, 1 019 female college students of grade 1 to 3 from a university were selected by convenient sampling method, who were included in the conventional group( n =315), WeChat group( n =462) and outpatient and peer group( n =242). The Outpatient and peer group was provided with reproductive health education and health knowledge manuals and relevant guidance by receiving medical staff, the conventional group received routine health education and guidance from the school, and the WeChat group received online reproductive health education and guidance on the WeChat platform. Survey questionnaires were filled out before and after reproductive health related education and health guidance, and the results were compared and analyzed.@*Results@#After intervention, the awareness rates of women’s menstrual cycle , ovulation period, AIDS detection window period and suitable contraceptive methods in outpatient and peer groups and WeChat group were higher than those in conventional group ( χ 2=26.78, 31.70, 61.50 and 13.96 respectively). The awareness rates of women s physiological time easy to be pregnant and unreliable contraceptive methods in outpatient and peer groups were higher than those in conventional group ( χ 2= 9.10 , 10.68), and the awareness rates of unreliable contraceptive methods and main precautions during menstruation were higher than those in WeChat group ( χ 2=9.10, 8.02). The awareness rate of emergency contraception methods in WeChat group was higher than that in conventional group ( χ 2=7.94). All the differences were statistically significant ( P <0.05). After intervention, the knowledge scores of reproductive physiology (2.55±1.09, 2.42±1.08), contraception (2.62±1.20, 2.53±1.06), sexually transmitted disease (2.89±1.35, 2.76±1.24) and the total score of reproductive health knowledge (12.82±3.94, 12.12±3.06) among female college students of the outpatient and peer group and WeChat group were higher than those in the conventional group (2.10± 0.91 , 2.33±1.09, 2.55±1.18, 11.39±3.07). The knowledge score of accidental pregnancy and induced abortion (1.78±0.91) and the total score of reproductive health knowledge (12.82±3.94) among female college students of the outpatient and peer group were higher than those in the conventional group and WeChat group (1.57±0.87, 1.62±0.87; 11.39±3.07, 12.12±3.06). All the differences were statistically significant ( F =14.94, 5.27, 5.28, 13.02; 4.15, 13.02, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#Female college students lack comprehensive understanding of reproductive health related knowledge. The reproductive health education and health care guidance to female college students should be developed through multiple channels, which would improve the reproductive health knowledge cognition of female college students and promote the formation of good health care behavior.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze public health emergencies in schools and associated economic loss in Luoyang from 2010 to 2019, and to provide suggestions for developing evaluation mechanism for economic loss of public health emergencies in school settings.@*Methods@#Data of public health emergencies in schools during 2010-2019 in Luoyang was analyzed by descriptive epidemiological method; the integrity and logicality of the economic losses reports in emergencies were assessed; the overall economic losses of emergent events of public health in schools were evaluated.@*Results@#Among the 60 public health emergencies reported during 2010 to 2019 in Luoyang, 24 (40.00%) occurred in schools. Infectious diseases accounted for 91.67%(22). The peaks of public health emergencies were in May and December. Among the 24 public health emergencies, 50.00%(12) occurred in primary schools, with 386 (58.22%) cases. Nearly 75.00% (18/24) of public health emergencies in schools were reported, among them, reports with reasonable integrity accounted for 5.56% (1/18) and reports with logicality accounted for 38.89% (7/18). The highest integrity rate was found in disease prevention and control system (75.00%), while health supervision and law enforcement ranked the lowest (20.83%). According to the economic losses, the expense used for disease control and prevention was in front of the row(¥429 000), while the expense used for health supervision ranked at the bottom(¥20 800).@*Conclusion@#The reporting rate of economic losses of school public health emergencies in Luoyang is relatively high, but there is still a big gap in the integrality and logicality of the data. It is necessary to improve the standard of direct network reports of economic losses and to establish an effective evaluation mechanism for accurately responding to public health emergencies and evaluating economic losses.

ABSTRACT

Objective @#To study the anatomical characteristics of the root and root canal system of the mandibular second permanent molar in the Uygur people and provide a reference for clinical practice.@*Methods @#A total of 125 mandibular second permanent molars were extracted from Uygur patients in hospitals in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Three-dimensional reconstruction was performed after micro-CT scanning. The number of root canals, the root canal type (Weine classification and Fan′s C-shaped canal classification) and the occurrence of lateral accessory canals were observed.@*Results @#A sex difference was not detected in the root number or root form (χ2 = 1.277, P = 0.259). The incidence of 2-rooted molars was 70.4% (n = 88); type 2-1 canals were most common in the mesial root, with an incidence of 29.5%, followed by type 1-1 and 2-2 canals (each with an incidence of 26.1%), and the distal root mostly had a type 1-1 canal (96.6%). The incidence of single-rooted molars was 28.8%, and the frequency of C-shaped (n = 28) and non-C-shaped (n = 8) single-rooted molars was 22.4% and 6.4%, respectively. A three-rooted molar was detected in one case. The incidence of accessory canals was 65.2%.@*Conclusion @# Uygur mandibular second molars are mainly composed of two roots, and the incidence of a single root and root canal fusion is low (including C-shaped canals). Two-rooted molars frequently have two mesial canals and one distal canal.

ABSTRACT

To find a credible nutritional screening tool for evaluating relationship between nutritional status and diseases in Chengdu female residents, the reliability and validity of a revised semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQFFQ) were tested. The validity was assessed by comparing the SQFFQ with the ‘standard’ method of 3 days’ dietary recall, and the reliability was assessed by comparing the first SQFFQ with the second SQFFQ at 4 weeks interval. Correlation analysis showed that, for reliability, the average correlation coefficient (CC) of 22 kinds of nutrients was 0.66 and reduced to 0.60 after adjusting for energy; the average of intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) was 0.65. For validity, the average CC was 0.35 and remained stable after adjusting for CC of energy or nutrients. Validity of 17 nutrients in SQFFQ survey had correlation with result of 3 days’ dietary recall. The results showed that the revised SQFFQ can be used for investigating the role of nutrients in development of disease in Chengdu female residents.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the effect of sodium selenite on gentamicin-induced ototoxicity.MethodsTwenty guinea pigs were randomly divided into the experimental group and control group with 10 animals in each group. The animals were treated with i.m injection of gentamicin (200 mg/kg/d for 8 consecutive days, and at same time, the experimental group was added with p.o tablet of sodium selenite (1 mg/kg/d). Before and after the administration, hearing function was evaluated by examination for auditory brain stem responses (ABR). The cochlear outer haircells were observed by scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and transmission electronic microscope (TEM).ResultsABR threshold of the control group was about 30 dB above that of the experimental group (P<0.01). The latency of waveⅠof the control group was about 0.23 ms above that of the experimental group (P<0.01). Under SEM, the cilia of the majority outer hair cells of the control group lodged even disappeared, while that of the experimental remained regular. Under TEM, in outer hair cells of the control group, mitochondrial crests were obscure, out-membrane was damaged and local protruding, the number of secondary lysosomes was increased, myeloid bodies appeared, but in the experimental group, outer hair cells basically remained normal.ConclusionSodium selenite has antitoxic effect on guinea pig cochlea injury induced by gentamicin in vivo.
